Barack Hussein Obama II, 44th President of the United States of America

Today is a historic day. In about three hours at 12 noon Washington DC time, Barack Obama will become the next president of the United States.

The anticipation of "change" is palpable everywhere and the people of America and most of the world are waiting for the actions of the new president. While there is much optimism because of the new day, the news of the past months if not years, has been grim and downright saddening. The economy, conflicts in many regions of the world, and human suffering are the recent headlines.

The hard work starts today.

President-elect Obama said on January 8, 2009, "It will not come easy or happen overnight, and it is altogether likely that things may get worse before they get better." Let's hope that when we read the news from January 20, 2013 or January 20, 2017, things are better.

Snowy is also wishing all the best for the new dog of the Obama family. Dogs are our best friends and have the ability to make us smile even when there is so much stress and trouble around us. The Presidency is a tough job and no doubt the new dog will be a great addition to their family.

Of course if they can't find a suitable dog or need some extra smiling help, Snowy is more than willing to lend his services and offer games of fetch, rub my belly, and sneeze on command. Rumors around the dog circles are that they are considering lots of breeds and many are poodle-type mixes. We think, especially as poodle owners, that a poodle would look great in the white house. Are you listening President Obama?
